Our Story

It was our obsession with beautiful things that took us on a journey of experiencing beautiful homes that evolved from everyday spaces. Magnolia began as a boutique, furniture store. It gathered its name from a quaint Magnolia tree that used to exist in the backyard of our founder, Maulika Gandhi’s childhood home.

We soon found our safe space at Magnolia Atelier, to curate the most wonderful objets d’art – these are pieces we have fallen in love with and picked up from the hidden nooks and corners of India. Every artefact, whether it has been curated or crafted from scratch, carries imprints of stories that need to be told. Magnolia Atelier is a cozy spot in Worli where we narrate tales of culture through one-of-a-kind pieces.

Our passion did not rest at curation alone. Hence, with 25 skilled artisans and a dedicated space of 5000 square feet we set up Magnolia Bespoke, our in-house workshop. Here, we build tailor-made pieces for contemporary homes. It is our artisanal playground where we explore, experiment and even build without blueprints and express ourselves in the most uninhibited fashion and carve out our own versions of happiness.

Along the way, we added another facet to our explorations. We set up Magnolia Interiors to tackle projects where we extend design and styling services. Some homes challenge us while others intrigue us. We love them all equally and work closely with the home-owners to add a personal touch to each one of them. From empty canvases to almost-complete puzzles, we style and design homes to pursue influences of different cultures.

Today, Magnolia is a studio of imagination, where residences turn into living landscapes.

Meet Maulika Gandhi

Maulika Gandhi trained as a lawyer for 7 years before steering away from her successful career into pursuing her love for eclectic, and beautiful furniture. She began to explore her love for spatial design and joined hands with her father, Pramod Gandhi, to set up a family run atelier. Her passion led the way in creating spaces for home-owners and pieces she could take pride in. For Maulika, her work is a nostalgic testimony to homes that are built on personal memories, conversations and the personalities of the people who inhabit them. Knowing that she can simplify the process of creating the ideal home through approachable, functional design elements is what she loves most about her work.

Meet Pramod Gandhi

A love for boutique furniture runs in the family, like deeply embedded roots. Pramod Gandhi is an engineer by profession and curator/designer by passion. A technical mind, he is always figuring out how to build something in its most functional, efficient form. From designing wind turbines to vintage furniture, Pramod took a leap of faith to join hands with his daughter, Maulika, to build what turned out to be a dream team. He never expected to run a business with his daughter but the journey has made the two inseparable. Pramod brings to the table, his core engineering skills in order to align structure and form to the creative pursuits of Magnolia.
